The Japanese Bigfoot

The Hibagon is described as a black creature with white hands and large white feet, standing about five feet tall.

Sightings have been reported in forested, mountainous areas of the country.  It has been reported in the forests around Mount Hiba in Hiroshima Prefecture and has been said to resemble a gorilla.

The creature is reported to look like an ape and smell like decaying flesh.  It is said to live in low shrubbery on the foothills of Mt. Hiba and also areas around Hibayama National Park.  A typical sighting says that it is about five feet tall with a face shaped like an inverted triangle.  The Hibagon has a snub nose, large deep glaring eyes and is covered with bristles.

A sighting from 1972 reports that the creature has a chocolate brown face and is covered with brown hair.

Although the Hibagon is said to have 'deep glaring eyes', in two reports by a Mr. Sazawa and a Mrs. Harada, the creature took no hostile action and fled from four armed residents intent on hunting it.  Japanese Boy Scouts claimed to find footprints 25 cm (10 inches) long and 15 cm (6 inches) wide.  The Hibagon is said to have a most unpleasant stench, like a decomposing human body.

An Angry Wildman

Below is a report of a Wildman (Bigfoot) being captured.  I recently posted another story of a Bigfoot being captured in 1784, and so I thought this would also be interesting, for, if both these stories are true, then that would mean that, not one, but two Bigfoots were captured, and that the capturing of these two Bigfoots were only 16 years apart!  Here is the report:

LONDONDERRY, Aug. 17.

Unknown London, England publication

There is now in the River an astonishing large Hairy Wild Man, caught 400 miles from the Cape of Good Hope, brought over in the Rambler, South Sea Whaler; he is of astonishing muscular strength, a specimen of which had nearly proved fatal to one of the Custom-house Officers, who inadvertently went too near him; he seized hold of the man, twirled him about two or three times with the greatest velocity, and then threw him over the side. Luckily the man escaped with a horrid fright and a sound decking.

Bigfoots are Different than other Cryptids

Bigfoots are quite different than other cryptids that have been reported over the years.  They are different in that, to the best of my knowledge, Bigfoots have been reported worldwide, while other cryptids are reported  in a certain area of the world, some large areas, and others small areas.

Now, of course Bigfoots are called by many different names in many different areas.  There is the "Bigfoot" of The United States of America, the "Sasquatch" of Canada, the "Yeti" of The Himalayas, the "Yeren" of China, and the "Wildman" of Europe (also can be written as two words: Wild Man).  And, then, even within some of these locations, there are other names for it.  Such as, within The United States of America, there is another name for it in Florida, the "Skunk Ape".  But, still all these creatures seem to be the same type of creature; a creature found all over the world!  This is different from other cryptids.

Early Encounter with the Sasquatch

During Leif Erikson's and his men's exploration of Markland, present day Newfoundland,1 Erikson and his men encountered creatures which were horribly ugly, hairy, swarthy and with big black eyes.2  I have also read that these creatures uttered harsh cries.3

This is one of the earliest, if not the earliest sighting of a Sasquatch in North America.

Untold Bigfoot Sighting

I posted this on one of my other blogs, Dinoplaza.blogspot.com, and thought I should post it here, too.

In 1986, my Father was in the U.S. Navy, while in the Navy, he spoke to a man who claimed to have seen Bigfoot.

The man was out walking at night, when he looked up a hill, and saw the cryptid known as Bigfoot.  This Bigfoot was crossing the road, or going from one side of the road on the hill to the other side.  The man ran to his house.

He told my Dad, "They're real, and I saw one!"

This sighting took place in Washington State, in the late 1970's.

Bigfoot Captured in 1784?

Was a living Bigfoot actually captured in 1784?  Is it true?

See the following report from Missionaries and Monsters, written by Gibbons, William J., and published by Coachwhip Publications, 2006:

In 1784, The Times newspaper of London reported that the Indians at Lake of the Woods, Manitoba, had captured a "huge man-like hair covered" creature.  What became of the creature is not known.

Maybe someday a Bigfoot will be captured again!
